Latex Allergies
It is very important to me that balloons are safe and do not cause any harm. Unfortunately latex balloons can cause reactions to people who are allergic to latex. Natural rubber latex is the sap from the Hevea brasiliensis tree and can be found in many different household products. It is the proteins in the latex which people become allergic to. Symptoms can range from irritation of the skin to anaphylaxis.
I do not recommend any form of latex balloons to be used or to be in the same environment as a person who may suffer from latex allergies as this could be deadly.
Though please do not fear there are many other balloon options that we can use so that everyone can still enjoy the happiness that balloons bring. Foil balloons are a great alternative. These are made from a metalised plastic film and we can also recommend Qualatex deco bubbles which are made from stretchy plastic. Both alternatives are great as they are non allergenic, never oxidise and last a long time.
Latex Balloons
When latex balloons are fully inflated they are not a hazard to young children, though when they deflate or burst they can be extremely dangerous. The neck of the balloon and any -remaining latex should be disposed of immediately as can become a chocking hazard. Children under the age of 8 can choke or suffocate on uninflated balloons and should be supervised at all times.
Balloon values
You will find these in the neck of foil balloons. They work by creating a seal without the need for tying a knot. These are very useful little devices although being small can also present a choking hazard. Please dispose immediately of any deflated balloons as these can be dangerous.
